Metly Privacy Policy

Metly has no account, no sign-in and no server of its own. It keeps nothing about you. The only thing it sends anywhere is a weather request to the public aviation weather service, and that request is described in full below.

1. Data collected by the developer

None. Metly has no account system, no cloud sync and no analytics. It does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or device identifiers, and the developer operates no server that could receive them.

2. What leaves your device

Metly reads observations from aviationweather.gov, the Aviation Weather Center of the US National Weather Service. Two kinds of request are made, and nothing else is transmitted:

• Airport identifiers you added — for example KORD,06C. These are airport codes, not information about you.
• A coarse box around your location, only if you turn on "Nearest airport" — the app widens your approximate position into a bounding box roughly one degree of latitude and longitude across (tens of kilometres on a side) and asks which reporting stations fall inside it. Your exact coordinates are never sent, the box is not stored by the app, and it is not sent anywhere except that weather service.

Requests carry no account, no advertising identifier and no device identifier. Use of the weather service is governed by the policies of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

3. What stays on your device

• Your airport list and units — stored in the app's own container so the widgets can read them.
• The most recent observation for each airport — cached so a widget can still show you the last reading, with its age, when the network is gone.

Both are deleted when you delete the app.

4. Permissions

• Location (while using the app / widgets) — requested only if you turn on "Nearest airport". It is used to build the bounding box described in section 2 and for nothing else. If you never turn that switch on, Metly never asks for or uses your location.

You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Metly.

5. Advertising and tracking

Metly shows no ads and contains no analytics or advertising SDKs. It does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission. Nothing it sends is used to track you across apps or websites.

6. Payment

Metly is a one-time paid app with no in-app purchases and no subscription. Payment is handled by Apple through the App Store; the developer never receives your payment details. Purchase and refund handling follows Apple's privacy policy.

7. Data retention and deletion

The developer holds no user data, so there is nothing to request the deletion of. Deleting the app removes the airport list, units and cached observations from your device.

8. Children

Metly is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from users of any age.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the app or applicable law changes. Any change is published on this page.
